Making the right diagnosis is the important step in rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries by physiotherapy or GP. To diagnose back pain, neck pain, or any other musculoskeletal injury your physical therapist - doctor will take your medical history and do a physical exam. Your physical therapist or doctor may order other tests, such as:
  • X rays
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Computed tomography (CT) scan
  • Blood tests.
Medical tests may not show the cause of your neck pain, back pain or sport injury. The physical therapist will explain the assessment and examination result with patient after reviewing all relevant evidence. Many times, the cause of back pain or other condition is never known. Back pain can get be treated  by a chartered physical therapist even if the cause is not known. Achieving the treatment goals set up by physical therapist and patient is important step in rehabilitation of the injury.

In complex situation and complex pathology condition, second opinion would be useful to finalize the diagnoses. You can always ask your chartered physical therapist about second opinion and its procedure.  Second opinion means being assessed and examed by another specialist. It can be another GP, chartered physical therapist, osteopath, chiropractic or orthopedic and neurologist consultant.

In London physical therapy practice we advice you about second opinion if there are indication for having second opinion.

Our London physical therapists also discussing the complex condition issues with other colleagues to make sure that patient receive the high standard of treatment.
