Work placements

One week/ One month

These placements are very useful for junior physiotherapists and last year students who desire to gain advanced skills and knowledge to become a successful physiotherapist. Based on the individual’s learning objectives the adequate period (one or four weeks) will be recommended.

During the work placement, depending on the duration which you choose, you will be taught in depth practical hands-on techniques including mobilisation, gliding, distraction, friction, advance physio massage.

Those techniques will be practiced on a daily basis and you will receive the appropriate feedback. You will be constantly supervised by a senior physiotherapist and all your treatment methods will be evaluated and analysed.

In addition, communication skills, professional codes of conduct (HCPC ,CSPprofessional standards) and many other relevant clinical matters which are required to manage musculoskeletal, and sports injuries will be thought about and discussed.

During this one month period, clinical reasoning, outcome measurement tools, and evidence-based practice will be discussed.

Assessment

In the one month placement, you will be taught a full physiotherapy systematic assessment in a clinical situation, whereby you will receive full feedback until you are well trained in the assessment of MSK and sports injuries. During the assessment sessions, in the subjective part, you will learn how to analyse patient symptoms, ask specific subjective questions, so that the differential diagnosis can be conducted. Based on the gathered information, the objective assessment with relevant specific tests will be taught, until you become very confident in performing a systematic physiotherapy assessment and diagnoses.

You will also receive a certificate of completion if doing a placement with us. If you are interested in doing your placement with us, please feel free to contact us.

• clinical reasoning, being able to apply the adequate intensity and the right loading to the injured tissue at the right time and right stage of recovery
